I built this firm because I kept seeing the same problem: business owners were getting legal advice that didn’t actually match how their businesses worked.
KAMISHA M. MICKEY

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ATTORNEY
Business-trained first. A B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and years in marketing and business development before law school. She understands what it takes to build something, not just advise on it.
Strategic, not transactional. Every engagement is built around a long-term plan, not a one-time transaction. The firm’s approach is proactive: anticipate the problem before it becomes one.
Direct and honest. Kamisha tells clients what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. That directness is why her clients trust her and why they stay.
Flat-fee transparency. The firm offers flat-fee and subscription packages so clients know their costs before they commit. No hourly surprises.
Most clients come to us after a problem. Our clients stay with us because we help them avoid the next one.

Kamisha Mickey is the founder of Mickey Law Group, a Houston-based firm providing strategic legal counsel to entrepreneurs, business owners, and student-athletes nationwide. Her practice centers on business law, intellectual property, and NIL representation, with a focus on helping clients protect, structure, and monetize what they are building.
Before law school, Kamisha built a career in marketing and business development. That experience shapes every engagement at Mickey Law Group: legal strategy informed by real business experience, delivered with the directness and precision her clients expect.
HOW MICKEY LAW GROUP CAME TO BE
Kamisha’s path to law was not a straight line. She started in marketing and business development, working with companies on strategy, positioning, and growth. It was that experience that showed her what most attorneys never see firsthand: the contracts that don’t get reviewed until something goes wrong, the formations filed incorrectly because someone used an online template, the brand assets that go unprotected because nobody told the owner they needed a trademark. She saw these problems repeatedly, and she realized the legal industry was not meeting business owners where they actually were.
So she went to law school. Not to leave business behind, but to bring business thinking into the practice of law.
I didn’t go to law school to become a traditional attorney. I went because I kept seeing the same problems, and I knew I could help solve them differently.
Her legal career began in employment law, where she built experience in litigation and workplace disputes. But it was the transactional side of business law that pulled her forward: entity formation, contracts, compliance, succession planning. These were the areas where her marketing and business background gave her an edge that most attorneys simply did not have.
That foundation expanded naturally into intellectual property. In a world where social media had turned personal brands into real business assets, Kamisha saw an opportunity to help entrepreneurs, creatives, and athletes protect and monetize what they were building. Trademarks, copyrights, licensing, endorsements—these were not just legal tools. They were revenue, leverage, and long-term brand equity.
Then came NIL. When legislation opened the door for student-athletes to earn from their name, image, and likeness, it was exactly the intersection Mickey Law Group was built for: business strategy, brand protection, and legal structure for people building something valuable. The firm’s NIL practice goes well beyond contract review. It includes entity formation, tax strategy, brand protection, and long-term business planning for athletes who understand that their name is an asset worth building on.
Today, Mickey Law Group serves business owners, entrepreneurs, and student-athletes from Houston and across the country. The firm operates on a simple principle: legal counsel should be strategic, accessible, and grounded in how businesses actually work.
